Residence From Work Category
Once you have completed 2 years of your professional life on a work to residence visa, keeping all the visa conditions optimum, you may be eligible for residence status under the residence from work category.
Consider this visa category as an upgrade opportunity from your temporary work visa to residency. As a resident, you would have access to publicly funded services and live in New Zealand indefinitely.
For being considered for a resident visa, you must have worked in New Zealand for two years on work to residence visa and should meet the character and health requirements.
There are two clear pathways to achieve residence from work:
If you hold a temporary work visa and work under a profession listed in the long term skill shortage list, then, after holding this visa for at least 24 months, you can apply for residence.
If you hold a Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa and have worked for at least two years in the current employment, you can apply for a residence class visa.
