About

Who publishes this, and why that matters

Anyone can publish immigration information. In New Zealand, only a licensed adviser or a lawyer may advise you on your own situation, and doing it unlicensed is a criminal offence.

A licensed practice stands behind every page

This site is published by Professional Visa Solutions Limited, trading as ProVisas, a New Zealand immigration advisory practising since 2013. It publishes under Immigration Advisers Authority licence 201301110, held by Inder Singh.

That licence number is not decoration. It means a named, licensed adviser is professionally accountable for what appears here, subject to the Immigration Advisers Authority's Code of Conduct, and answerable to a complaints process that we do not control. You can look the licence up on the public register without asking anyone's permission.

Why this site exists separately

Most immigration websites are marketing for the practice that runs them. The information is real, and it is also shaped around getting you to make contact.

This one is built the other way round. The aim is that you can answer your question here and leave, and that a good number of people will do exactly that. Where a page does point you towards a licensed adviser, it is because the question genuinely cannot be answered by information, which is true of anything that turns on your own circumstances.

We would rather be the page you send to a friend than the page that captured your details.

What this site cannot do

It cannot tell you whether your application will succeed. It cannot assess your situation, because it does not know it. And it deliberately does not print the numbers that matter most, because Immigration New Zealand changes them and an out-of-date fee on a confident-looking page is worse than no fee at all.

Where you need somebody to look at your own documents and tell you what they mean, that is advice, and it needs a licence.

These are constraints on us rather than promises to you, which is why they are worth publishing. You can check whether we keep to them.

  • No figure is written from memory

    Fees, wage thresholds, points totals and processing times all change. Where we state one, it was read off the Immigration New Zealand page it came from, and it is printed with a link to that page and the date it was checked, so you can verify it in one click. A figure we have not verified that way is not stated at all: those pages link to Immigration New Zealand instead.

  • Every page carries a review date

    The date says when the immigration facts were last checked against Immigration New Zealand, not when the wording was edited. A page with an old date is telling you something useful.

  • No outcome is ever promised

    Nobody controls what Immigration New Zealand decides. You will not find a success rate, an approval percentage or a guarantee here, because those are unverifiable, prohibited, or both.

  • Information first, advice deliberately

    Explaining how a rule works is information. Telling you what to do about your own situation is advice, and in New Zealand that requires a licence. We are careful about which side of that line a page sits on.

  • The source is always linked

    Immigration New Zealand owns the rules. Where we describe one, we link to where it lives, so you can check it rather than trust us. If we disagree with them, they are right.

  • No urgency devices

    No countdown timers, no invented deadlines, no spot counters. People making immigration decisions are already under pressure, and manufacturing more of it is a sales technique, not information.

The wider group

Related practices, and why we say so

This site is part of a group of four related businesses. Where a page here recommends one of them, you should know that connection exists, so it is stated on every referral rather than buried.

None of them pays to appear here, and a referral that is wrong for you damages both sites. If the right answer is somebody outside the group, or nobody at all, that is what a page should say.

If you think we have got something wrong

Tell us. An error on a page like this can cost somebody money or a visa, so a correction is more useful to us than a compliment. Email contact@provisas.co.nz with the page and what is wrong with it.

If your concern is about the conduct of a licensed immigration adviser, including ours, that goes to the Immigration Advisers Authority rather than to us. Our complaints page sets out both routes.

This site explains how the rules work. It cannot tell you what will happen in your case, because that depends on facts only an adviser who has seen your file can weigh up.
